I just finished my Dream Bigger tour in Texas and my ultimate favorite part of this show was seeing Nicki and Jeremy. They were a bride and groom on season three of My Fair Wedding in Fort Worth. I had them as guests at Dream Bigger and interviewed them to catch up and see how they’ve been doing.
Nicki was one of my top five brides of all time. She is just hysterical and adorable. Her and Jeremy’s relationship is loving, kind and fun. It was really great to sit with the two of them who I haven’t seen since the premier of season four, when they came to LA to visit. They were on a “Where are they now?” special last season. They’re just a great couple and it’s nice to see two people that remain the same. I got to spend some more time afterward when the show was over to really catch up with Nicki, who is now a mom of two. We chatted about being a parent and how in public, people recognize Jeremy more than her who was on their episode so briefly while she was the focal point of the whole hour—it makes her crazy! She was very honest about it…they’re just adorable and for me, it’s fun to step back and see the people that were so much fun to work with and really are that way because in the beginning, you just never know if it’s real or an act. Nicki was the one who taught me a couple of things:
1) There’s a BIG difference between Dallas and Fort Worth. She’s from Fort Worth and taught me that never EVER shall Dallas and Fort Worth be considered the same.
2) When in Texas, do as the Texans do! She got me to wear cowboy boots and a cowboy hat, as well as to ride a horse.
She brought the Texan (not that it was in me to begin with) out of me. It was one of the best times of my life while filming this show.
I’m currently filming Season 6 of my show, which is no longer called My Fair Wedding: Unveiled but instead has been renamed David Tutera: Unveiled, or as I like to refer to it, David Tutera: UNLEASHED! You’ll see more of me–we’re filming in my home and you’ll be meeting my dog Lucy, my assistant Renee, my house manager Gaby, my good friend April, my driver (or should I say drivers?) and my new Event Coordinator (or should I say Event Coordinators?). It’s fun because I’ve become comfortable enough to just be me.
The process of what I do is always challenging–that will never change. However, you will see a lot more interaction between me and the people on my show that are celebrating events–from brides, to a sweet 17 party, to even a bat mitzvah–this is really what I do. I’ve always done weddings but I’ve also always done all types of celebrations which you will see this season. What I love is the interaction that happens between myself and my friends, including at my birthday party,
a baby shower and while my family is in town–so you’ll really see how I have to balance and juggle my entire life. I’m enjoying every second of it because it allows people to really see more of the real David Tutera versus the TV David Tutera.Read More
